7th European HPC Infrastructure Workshop

7th European Workshop on HPC Centre Infrastructures

19/04/2016 – 22/04/2016
Leibniz Supercomputing Centre, Garching, Germany

The aim of this series of workshops is to bring together specialists in HPC centre design and operation to discuss the latest trends and technologies for the infrastructure of supercomputing centres. Given that the requirements for HPC centres differ significantly from those of traditional data centres, this workshop provides a unique forum to exchange experiences with other sites that have similar requirements and challenges. This event covers a number of interesting updates from various HPC sites around Europe and beyond, along with discussions on energy efficient computing, infrastructure technologies and some considerations about future developments in HPC. Special focus this year will be on data management and analysis challenges related to the substantial increase in monitoring data available to facilities. Questions such as: “what sensors are available, what is the precision of these sensors and what to do with all these data points” will be discussed.

Last year’s workshop gathered more than 60 participants from all over the world with attendees representing computing centres (mostly from Europe, but from the USA and Australia as well), supercomputer vendors and other companies.
